Now, we discuss about some Yoga poses that can help in reducing stress and cultivating a sense of calm and relaxation.

1) Child’s pose( Balasana)–  This is a good pose for stress relief.

To perform child ‘s pose , begin on your hands and knees with your knees hip-width apart. Lower your hips back towards your heels and extend your arms forward with palms facing down.

This pose gently stretches the hips, thighs and ankles, while promoting relaxation and a sense of grounding.

2) Standing forward fold- This pose helps to calm the mind and release tension in the upper body, particularly neck and shoulders.

To perform this pose , stand with your feet hip-width apart and fold forward from your hips, allowing your arms hang heavy towards the floor.You can bend your knees slightly if needed to release any tension in the lower back.

Hold onto your elbows or claps your hands behind your back for a deeper stretch.Hold  the pose for several breaths, allowing tension to melt away.

3) Easy pose( Sukhasana)- This Yoga pose can help to calm the mind and cultivate a sense of inner peace.

To perform this pose, sit comfortably with your legs crossed and your hands resting gently on your knees. Close your eyes and focus on deep, controlled breathing,while clearing your mind of distracting thoughts.

4) Tree pose ( Urksasana)– This pose promotes focus, concentration and mental clarity helping to alleviate feelings of stress and anxiety.

To perform this pose, first begin in Mountain pose (Tadasana) with your feet hip-width apart and your arms by your sides.

Shift your weight onto your left foot and place your right foot on your inner left thigh,as though you were standing on a tree. Bring your hands into prayer position and hold the balance for several breaths before switching sides.

5) Corpse pose( Savasana) – This pose often used as the final restorative pose in a Yoga practice.Corpse pose promotes maximum relaxation and release tension throughout the entire body.

To perform this pose,lie flat on your back, with your legs extended and feet hip-width apart. Allow your arms to rest naturally by your sides, with your palms facing up.

Close your eyes and focus on deep, controlled breathing while allowing your body to sink into the mat.

6) Cat-cow pose( Marjaryasana-bitilasana)-   this pose is a gentle flow between two poses that helps to stretch the spine and release tension in the back and neck. It helps in back pain and sciatica.

Start on your hands and knees with your wrist directly under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Inhale as you arch your back and look up ( cow pose) ,then exhale as you round your back and tuck your chin to your chest ( cat pose) .

7) Leg-up the- wall pose( Viparita Karani)-  This restorative pose helps to calm the nervous system and promote relaxation.

To perform this pose, sit next to a wall with your hips against it, then swing your legs up the wall, as you lie down on your back.

Relax your arms by your sides and close your eyes, focusing on deep breathing.
