Behavioural and emotional disorders in children refers to a broad range of conditions affecting a child’s condition, cognitive, emotional and behavioral functioning.
Behaviour and emotional disorders in children are mental health problems, characterized by persistent and disruptive patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour. These disorders can have a profound impact on a child’s overall well-being, social relationships, academic performance and future success.
These disorders can manifest in a range of behaviours, such as impulsivity, aggression, defiance withdrawal, anxiety and mood swings.
There are various types of behavioural and emotional disorders that can affect children including Attention -deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) ,oppositional defiant disorder ( ODD) , conduct disorder, anxiety disorders, depression and bipolar disorder.

Causes
The aetiology of behavioural and emotional disorders in children is often complex and multifaceted, involving a combination of Genetic, Environmental, Biological and Psychological factors.
Some common causes for this disorders are:-
1) Genetic factors – Children inheritance the behaviour and emotional disorders from their parents or other close relatives.

2) Environmental factors –Exposure to stress, trauma, neglect or abuse during childhood can significantly contribute to the development of behavioural and emotional disorders.
3) Neurological factors – Imbalance in brain chemistry or damage to certain areas of brain can contribute to this disorders in children.
4) Socio-economic factors – children from Low -income families or those experiencing social disadvantage may be more prone to developing behavioural and emotional disorders.
5) Co- morbidity – Children with other medical or psychological conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder or learning disabilities may be at a high risk of developing concurrent behavioural and emotional disorders.

Treatment
Identifying behavioural and emotional disorders in children are challenging.so, it is important for parents to be aware of these signs and if they suspect that a child may be struggling with a behaviour or emotional disorders, consult the doctor.
Treatment for these disorders involves a combination of therapy, medication and supportive therapy. Cognitive -behavior therapy ( CBT) is often used to help children learn coping strategies and develop healthier ways of thinking, learning and behaving. Medication may be prescribed by some cases to manage symptoms such as hyperactivity, anxiety or impulsivity.

Early treatment is beneficial for children. The sooner these disorders are identified and treated, the better the outcomes are likely to be. Parents, Mental health professional and teacher should work together to create a supportive and structural environment for children with these disorders.

So, behavioural and emotional disorders in children are a serious issue that can have far reaching consequences if left untreated. With early identification and appropriate intervention, children with behavioural and emotional disorders can learn to manage their symptoms and lead fulfilling lives.
